Welcome to Mumskool

'a learning space for cool mums'

Mumskool exists to support caregivers, especially mums to take control of their children’s education, learning and future goals.  Mumskool is the support space for those struggling in the education of their 7-11ys old child.  It's the place for parents, who are at their wits end because they cannot find the composure, confidence and calm to help their children with schoolwork.  It is also a space, for mums, who have lost faith in the education system and want to have some autonomy and say in their children’s learning.
Mumskool will provide you the understanding, tools and resources for you to confidently map your children's education and take the steps to facilitate their learning.

Why should I take a course @ Mumskool?

Mumskool was born as a response to the pandemic with the demand from parents for support to teach their own children at home.  For some parents, it was a welcome opportunity to spend time imparting knowledge and have fun with their children. For some, it came as a betrayal of the education system as they were required to teach their own children; the majority of these parents had one or more of these shocking realizations:
  • it can be emotionally difficult to teach your own child.
  • their children’s learning was not at their expected standard.
  • they lacked the subject knowledge or resources to confidently teach their child.

Crucially, these issues highlighted during lockdown, are not unique to the pandemic, parents still struggle with them today.  Parents can get so invested in their children’s future that it is impossible for them to get emotionally detached from their children’s learning.  And yet, when given the option and the skills most parents will choose to support their children’s learning themselves rather than employ a tutor.  The latter, is also often a response to the perceived difficulties of navigating the necessary resource in your child’s educational needs.

Mumskool courses are designed to empower you to take control over your child’s learning and guide you in bridging the gap left by schools in your child’s learning by:
  • giving you understanding and control over the education system, school requirements, age-related curriculum and child’s learning and behaviours,
  • getting clarity about your own educational aspirations and goals for your child and maps ways for you to reach them,
  • drawing practical tools and resources to get you started in the best way,
  • pooling systems that work to guide your child to become a self-reliant, motivated and inquisitive lifelong learner.

How can you improve your child's learning?

It's easier than you think

Mumskool approach

Forming a plan on how to best support
your child's learning

1. Become aware of the starting point

Have a clear idea of where you want to be both in the near and distant future. You need to identify the difference between your child needs and your own and clearly distinguish between 'outside' factors and your own desired outcomes and goals for your child. This is why you need to develop a very strong self awareness and gain clarity between your child's education and learning.

2. Understand your childs' learning needs

After identifying your child's essential learning goals, you need to understand the obstacles you and/or  your child had/has in achieving them. Once you do that, it will be far easier for you to form ways for your own child's development plan, focusing on improving the things that matter.

3. Combine practical tools and learning

As you progresses, you can adapt your own support to best serve your child to become an independent, self-reliant and motivated learner. Your role in your child's life is a dynamic process and you will also see huge changes in yourself and your child throughout this journey. You will learn the need to constantly readjust your plan to be in alignment with any given learning condition.
